Common Garbage Disposal Problems
Each Day, your garbage disposal takes care of leftover organic waste. It’s a big part of your after-meal clean up. Since we rely on our disposals so much, they are sometimes more vulnerable to problems.
Some of the most common problems include:
Jamming: Putting too much waste or hard items like bones or shells in the unit will cause it to jam.
Leaking: This is often caused by loose screws or gaskets within the unit. Unlike a jam that can sometimes fix itself, a leak needs to be addressed right away to prevent water damage.
Not turning on: If the unit is not turning on, it’s a definite sign of a problem and requires professional inspection.
*Never attempt garbage disposal repairs on your own. Trust the professionals who are experienced working with small appliances and around the sharp blades of the unit.
